How do eccentric bushes adjust caster?
Thinking about caster makes a lot of sense, because it has a major influence on how a vehicle drives. SuperPro is well aware of the important role the caster setup plays in suspension geometry and therefore offers a very broad, constantly growing range of caster correction bushes. It does not matter whether it is a youngtimer or a current front-wheel or all-wheel-drive vehicle: as soon as the size of the bush allows an eccentric seat, SuperPro usually offers a matching caster correction bush.
In addition there are bush kits that can correct a vehicle "pulling to one side" by fitting an eccentric correction bush on one side and a bush with a centred bore on the other. On some vehicles this behaviour is already present from the factory. After several wheel alignments customers are often at a loss – SuperPro's caster correction bushes are a simple and inexpensive solution to this problem. This article explains how it works.
The three scenarios in which caster correction bushes make sense
Slight pull to one side (here to the left as an example)

A slight pull to the left can be countered with a SuperPro Single Offset Kit. The eccentric bush is fitted on the driver's side and the standard bush on the passenger's side. The slightly increased caster on the driver's side corrects the pull to the left.
Strong pull to one side (here to the left as an example)
If the vehicle pulls more strongly to the left, the SuperPro Extra Offset Kit can be used. It contains two eccentric bushes that are fitted in opposite orientation on both sides: on the driver's side caster is increased as in case 1, while caster on the passenger's side is reduced at the same time, which corrects the strong pull to the left.
Caster adjustment to improve handling
Most often, however, SuperPro eccentric bushes are used mainly to improve handling. This is achieved by fitting eccentric bushes on both sides that increase caster on the driver's and passenger's side. Both control arms are angled slightly forward, the wheel carrier is pushed slightly forward and the strut is set more steeply in the direction of travel (= caster angle). The higher caster angle counteracts understeer in particular.
When using a caster correction kit, SuperPro also recommends replacing the front bushes of the control arm with SuperPro products at the same time to make sure you get the maximum benefit from the upgrade.
In our online catalogue at www.superpropoly.de we have listed all eccentric bushes as well as bush kits for the complete control arm. If you have any questions, please contact your local dealer or SuperPro Germany directly.
